Pila

2020, Rieti, ItalyInstallation

Pila is the art installation designed by Luca Boffi (Alberonero) for Rieti, located in Piazza Cesare Battisti. The work engages, on the one hand, with the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and contemporary architecture, and on the other, with the Giardino del Vignola and the city’s two main squares, Piazza Cesare Battisti and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

Pila, with its seemingly intangible and incorporeal chromatic quality, evokes the region’s profound spirituality. The structure, composed of materials such as iron and concrete, draws on local culture and its solidity, as reflected in the city’s preserved historical, artistic, religious, and social heritage.

Pila is part of TraMe – Tracce di Memoria, The Uncommon Factory, curated by Annalisa Ferraro.
