Days and nights
The exhibition tells the story of the days and nights the artist spent, from December 2019 to April 2021, in symbiosis with a grove of 290 poplar trees until they were cut down. The work involves caring for a place, a “free” and “useless” gesture, a performative practice that accompanies the poplars toward their death.
“I stopped in front of the poplars in the winter of 2019, knowing that I didn’t know myself. I saw my reflection in this absence of mine. The first and last of the two hundred ninety trees. The exhibition tells this story through photographs, flashes of insight, and brief notes taken season after season.”
“Days and Nights” is a project by Luca Boffitratto, based on “Caro Campo: A Work Diary,” winner of the Italian Council (11th edition) organized by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
