Di là dal paesaggio
On Thursday, July 6, at 6:00 p.m. at Forte Santa Tecla in Sanremo, Liguria, the exhibition Di là dal paesaggio by Luca Boffi and Jacopo Valentini, curated by Vittorio Parisi, will open. The exhibition is made possible thanks to the support of Forte Santa Tecla Sanremo and the Liguria Regional Museums Directorate — Ministry of Culture. “At the heart of Di là dal paesaggio lies, first and foremost, the raw and symbiotic interaction between two artists and the places of their daily lives and memories. Starting from two opposing creative practices — installation and performance on one hand, and photography on the other — Luca Boffi and Jacopo Valentini are united by having made the landscape the primary subject of their investigations, but also by a conception of landscape as a place that is at once real and fictional, external and internal, physical and metaphysical, in which the artist must, in order to find himself, first lose himself. In other words, a conception of landscape that coincides with that of disorientation. Through essential elements and materials — bare volcanic earth, rows of trees and rocks in Jacopo Valentini’s work; grass, clay, and bark in Luca Boffi’s work — the exhibition aims to reconstruct a landscape grammar stripped of ornamentation or specific compositional devices, proceeding through densifications — as in Boffi’s sculptures — and rarefactions — as in Valentini’s views — until they symbolically converge in Doccia, an immersive installation created collaboratively by both artists."
